My path to being an Arborist started with camping and canoeing in rural Arkansas with my family and backpacking with the Boy Scouts of America. Growing up in Texarkana TX, I was always outside with friends and family enjoying the surrounding woodlands. I had the ability to spend most summers going to church camp with my sisters and grandparents. This isn’t the typical church camp that youths go to. This is a camp that dates back to the late 1800s where families own cabins and camp for 10 days. Entering into my teenage years, I started backpacking frequently with the Boy Scouts and eventually had the opportunity to go to Philmont, the renowned Bay Scout Camp in Cimarron, NM. This camp allows scouts to backpack the Rock Mountains for two weeks. Over the years of scouting, I was able to become an Eagle Scout. As you can tell by now, I really enjoy the outdoors!

When it was time to go to college, I chose Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. This was a no brainer for me as my father, two sisters and a brother in-law are all Aggies! Upon acceptance, I became a Fightin’ Texas, class of 2006. I decided to study Forest Science because it only seemed fitting. Upon graduating, I decided to move to Dallas to be closer to one of my sisters and my niece. In Dallas, I had the opportunity to work for a local tree care company and learn the ropes of the industry. I worked multiple positions from hauling brush on a tree crew, becoming a plant healthcare technician, a Arborist Assistant and eventually a Arborist. At this time, I passed the necessary test to become a Certified Arborist with the Internal Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

After being in Dallas for a few years, I decided it was time for a change and I made the move to Austin. In Austin, I have had the opportunity to work for a few different tree companies and continued to expand my experience and knowledge within the industry. While living in Austin over the last 6 or so years, I have obtained further credentials with the ISA and was able to start a small business! Over the past few years, I have enjoined growing a business with the intent to help everyone I can with their tree care needs. I never knew growing a business from scratch would be as rewarding as it is. Thanks to everyone that reaches out with their tree care needs, as your business is much appreciated! I hope to hear from you this season and help where possible!
